Question for all you hard top owners!
I'm just about to burn up some money and spring for the Seibon carbon fiber top. My question is, and I haven't seen it stated clearly here, once the hard top is installed how easy is the removal of the piece? I still want to be able to enjoy the top down aspects of my car of course!
I also wanted to removed the soft top since mine is in terrible condition. It is forming cracks and my rear plastic windows is of course clouded over but also has shattered from trying to be rolled down in sub 0'C weather. Not only that but the motors and such weigh something and I'm always looking to minimize the weight. I figure the toneau cover could do the trick while the hardtop isn't there. I just need to sprint home at the first site of rain.
Are there any holes in my plan or things I should know about before making the investment?
Thanks a million!

I don't know the answer to your questions, but when you do take the soft top off, call me, I want to help remove it.
Removing the hard top is not a one man job. Unless you have a hoist of some sort. You can remove the soft top, but really there isn't any point to, unless you are hardcore about weight removal. The hard top goes right over the lowered softtop. I'm not familiar with the workings on the seibon hard top, but if its anything like the oem, all it takes is the two latches up front, and the rear latches in back. Takes literally like 2 minutes to take off. But again, because of the width and size of the top, it makes it quite awkward to try and take off with one person. You definitely need two people.
Be prepared for car and road noise with the soft top removed. If you actually remove all of the roll hoop and convertible well plastic, you will here everything from the back of the car... exhaust, diff, etc. I think it is awesome, but you might be taking a passenger out some time... they will wine.
I built a hoist for mine. 350 lbs electric hoist bolted to the cross beams in the garage then run a 100 lbs steel wire across 2 90 lbs pulleys. Takes 4 minutes on and off. And I have tons of saved space in the garage cause it's hangin' from the ceiling.
With a helping hand it takes me about 20 seconds to take off my hardtop. As for removing the softtop, unless your running the car stricktly on the track, or live in desert conditions, I think it places too many limits when you want to drive topless.

Thanks for the replies guys, two people is a given and yes I am hardcore about the weight removal, I'll just be extra vigilant about the weather and never take long drives topless. The extra noise from the rear is a plus are you kidding?!?!?!
