Question bout the Honda emblems?
It'll be smooth, but both will leave two little holes after removing the emblem. The emblems have two small pins attached to the crossbar of the 'H', and are secured through the hood or trunk by press-on clips from the back. If you want to leave them off permanently, you'll have to fill the holes and paint over. If you replace them with different emblems, these may or may not have pins, depending on where you got them. Mine had no pins, and I just had to stick them on (which covered the holes).
I put on my black chrome emblems today and it was even easier than anything I have heard here!
The secret is Dental floss. Use the really flat kind made for tight spaces between teeth.
This stuff slips right under the emblem and you just have to pull on both ends in a sawing motion while pulling down or up (depending on if you are removing the lower or upper part of the emblem). Dental Floss cuts through the foam tape like a hot knife through butter.
I found that once the foam tape was cut, I just pulled off the emblem. It was way simple.
The rear emblems were not secured at all besides the tape. The holes in the trunk contained a plastic insert with a friction fit for the pins on the emblem. I just pulled it off.
The fronts has metal clips. But then again, I just pulled on the emblem and the clips came out still attached to the posts on the emblem. I thought the holes in the urethane bumper cover must have gotten messed up, but then closer inspection revealed that there was no visible damage. Also, my new emblems covered those holes up so it wouldn't of been noticeable even if there had been damage.
All in all, I found it real easy. Getting the remants of foam tape and adhesive off were the biggest pains. Secret - rubbing alcohol.
Finally, if you go the the Honda-Accessories site, they sell black chrome emblmes. They also give you full instructions in an acrobat PDF format that you can download. These instructions are overkill, but you'll feel realy well informed.

After using the piers to get the H off. Use a cotton/terry-cloth bathroon hand towel to get the adheasive off. The glue sticks to the fibers of the towel and with a little elbow grease wipes right off. Go back with bug/tar remover to clean up the are. Took me about 10 mins to remove and istall both new badges.
This technique works on the side S2000 badges as well. Use the denta floss to seperate the badge and glue. Use your fingers and fingernails to get as much glue as you can. Then use the cotton towel. With some effort it comes right off.
