Default Question bout plastic Piece above exhaust.

i was wondering, have any of you experienced the plastic piece (diffuser, or whatever you call it) melting from aftermarket exhaust?

is it possible if u can use some sort of heat shield wrap?

ive seen a while back on a ek civic. he had some sort of metal plate in which help kept his piece from melting. does anyone have anyhting like this of some sort?

if you glued some aluminum foil there (reflective side down, obviously) it's a cheap and easy solution as aluminum is pretty good at reflecting heat. also not as thick as heat sheild wrap, and cheaper as well.

worth a try and if it doesn't work well enough, you're only out less than a dollar and a few minutes of work.

gold foil is the best if you're wanting the thinnest possible heat reflector, but you'll pay about $150 for a 1/2 inch wide x 1ft long strip.

I have a J's Racing exhaust, and I have had very minimal melting og the plastic piece. It is at the back of the piece where you have to crawl under the car and look over the exhaust to see it. No big deal.

If you're really worried about it melting, you can get some Spoon Sports heat shield tape (around $25) and just cut a piece to stick up in there. I'm sure AJ Racing would gladly be able to help you with that.

Aren't you getting the Spoon exhaust? I have that and I haven't experienced any melting of the plastic. The Spoon tip is a lot smaller than most others, so its not as close to the bumper. I don't think you should worry too much about it with the Spoon exhaust.
