question for new cars..
i was wondering...
say i bought a brand new car..not broken in yet. Would i have to drive it day by day? You know they say in the manual..usually its between 500 miles and 1000 miles in order for the piston rings to set in correctly..and so on. I was wondering would i be able to break it in within a day? I was thinking of going on a long cruise under the specified speed and rpms..and then i hit around 750 and i can push it.
I HATE break in period.

I would think you can do it in one day. Here is my advice though: Don't just get on the highway, set the cruise control, and click off 600mi at 3400 rpm.
Take the car on back roads and make sure you vary the RPMs between 1000 and 5500 or so. Do NOT use the cruise control. One tip is to get up to 5500RPM or so in 4th gear (third if you are not wanting to go too fast.) then let off the throttle and let the car "coast" in gear. That helps to seat the rings without as much pressure.
