Default Question for Rick

Rick,

I noticed that you are now offering a Leather Console Cover that applies by using the stock snaps instead of the adhesive tape. Can you explain the differences in the Cover itself? Does it have a hard backing? Can the clips be used for mine that has the tape? I just received mine a little bit ago and have not installed it yet. I would prefer to use the snaps vs. the tape. It would not bother me to have the snaps sticking through the cover as mine is all red, just like the stock carpeting. If this is possible, could you post directions on how to do the install. Would simply cutting a few small holes in mine where the snaps are be enough to hold in on securely without using the tape? Just curious.

another question?
What is a core exchange. I have see many merchants use
this term and i still do not know what it means. it always entails
a smaller price though. And I have seen the other comments done
by another merchant on the site, what a shame. So who cares if you
used someone elses idea to improve your product that you improved
your product, or now offer 2 different items. The important part is that
the $ went down for the customer, lol :-)

Core exchange applies to modifying existing parts. You pay a price based on buying the whole item and when you receive you send in your none modified item for a rebate.

The sides of our snap version console cover will have a stiffener (not plastic) sewn in, and the snaps will fit between the outside leather and the siffener. I'm not persuaded that one mounting method is better than the other, they're just different. We considered using the snaps when we develped the original cover a year ago (the Japanese version on which it was modeled attached that way, and we hated the way the snaps were exposed). This method hides them, but uses the stock snaps, making for easy installation.

I have had the double sided tape version on my car for over a year now with no problems. Properly installed, it's a smooth appearance and very durable. The various critical claims being made are largely a consequence of the new competition's desire to penetrate the market and our desire to defend our market. Invetiably, some stretching of the truth occurs. As I said in another post, we're going to silence our criticisms and let our record of quality and service speak for itself. In the end, that's all we can do anyway to prove our mettle anyway.

Actually I'd say it has been Rick's market for some time. And to that point I think Honda followed Rick's lead as is evidenced by the 2002 leather console?

Great to see other supplier's and market competition; and your product looks great . But in my opinion you should at least acknowledge the inventor your using as a model. If your service is as good as Rick's then that will be one more outstanding supplier for us to use.

Richard Ming gave up on his Dead Pedal as everyone was making one (again stock 2002 Honda.....and people ask if they read this board LOL). I was the one who supplied Muz, your countryman, with mine (with Rich's permission) so MUZ could market a world wide knock off. Perhaps your products introduction into the market will stir Rick and company to greater aspirations? But personally Rick I don't see Honda copying those funky daisy calipers....LOL

Best of luck to each of you in you future endeavors!!!!!!

I think I have paid due homage to Rick. He wasn't the 'inventor'. He copied Back Yard Specials product and got a nasty letter from their legal team for the effort.

What he should be given credit for is bringing the product to market and making it popular. And considering his pricing I expect he got lots of credit.

But he didn't 'invent' the console cover. Not by a long shot.

Gentlemen,

This bickering is beneath you both.

Very sad and disappointing.

Whatever you say doesn't really matter anyway as the market will decide who offers the best solutions.
