Default question for the s2k mechanics

If I was driving my s2k and the oil filler cap came off and I drove the vehicle for about 3 to 4 miles without realizing it, could I have potentially hurt the engine. The oil level was fine after I checked it.

I talked with the honda dealer and they seemed to think it would be fine, but I am still skeptical.

It's not likely that you did any damage.

All that happens if you leave the filler cap off is you let oil spray out of the engine and make your engine bay dirty. You might also let a little dirt into the engine, but if it was just a few miles, it's probably not a big concern. If you're really worried, do an oil change.

What Rev said is spot on.

I did the same thing and all I got was messed up insulation on the underside of the hood. Just ordered a new panel of insulation and voila, just like new!

i did that in my CRX, well I was filling it up with oil and I forgot to pu the cap back on. As long as there was oil in the engine than its ok, jut top it off.
