question for some 4.77 owners
the downside to 4.77 over 4.44 is the highway cruise, if you need to go long distance for say 4 hrs, 4.77 would not be as comfortable. for any daily driving with a combination of local and highway, 4.77 is fine (it is only a few rpm ticks over say 4.56 - not enough to be noticeable at all.
if anything, 4.77 has helped me stop speeding so much on the highway - less likely to get a ticket as i rarely go over 65mph-70mph now. as for gas mileage, it has remained exactly the same as pre 4.77, anywhere between 250-300 miles between fillups... i donno why.
finally, the fun factor comes from the torque you get with 4.77. the lack of torque down low has been the most complained about issue w/ a stock s2k. these gears will give the car the boost where it lacks the most. if all you care about is racing, then go get FI since NA + gears isn't really going to matter. otherwise, if you are going to get gears, get 4.77 (provided you dont constantly drive long distance highway) - my opinion: if you are going to spend the $ on gears, then get the one that you'll feel the most difference in (butt dyno and fun factor).

the only downside is if your in traffic and u have to keep making 1-2-1 shifts b/c its bumper to bumper and u dont wanna open 6-7k rpms in first gear...
