Question for those with the oversize wind delectors.
I am about to purchase one, but I hear it can rattle around? Is this true? No cure? Also, it seems as though you have to be careful about putting the top up and down if you get the full size version. What happens if I forget? boom? Or just a rub?
Thanks.
Thanks.
I bought mine from Ricks2k; it required that I take the stock deflector shell apart and glue in the replacement windscreen. The directions were excellent.
It has been in the car about a year, and I have no problems with it rattling, nor any other problems. The full-size deflector looks good, IMHO.

The larger screen inserts from Rick's comes with a set of little rubber bumpers that you superglue to use as a backstop for the screen (thus no rattles). You must not have the screen in the down position when you operate the top or you'll snap that baby off and most likely break it (the windscreen, that is). You are better to get the 7/8 size rather than the full size as the full size will touch the back window when you change its position.

I have Rick's 7/8ths aeroscreen, and it looks great, but even with the latest set of new-and-improved bumpers he sent me (for free), I still get a little vibration from the screen at highway speeds. I think this may be due to the hinge mechanism on my screen having a little more play than it should, I wish I could adjust it but I don't know how.
As far as effectiveness, I can't say, every time I've tried to observe a difference between the amount of disruptive cabin turbulence with the aeroscreen up vs. down, I haven't been able to detect any difference. But my aeroscreen has the S2000 logo etched on it, and for that reason alone it will remain on my car.

did the same thing and even wrote it up. it is under the new orleans forum under kill switch mod. I forgot one day and broke the windscreen. fortunately the top was fine.
as far as effectiveness. it is largely subjective. in turburlence (.i.e traffic) it does little. in relatively laminar air flow it works very well.
