Questions about purchasing the right s2k
Hello, I am new to the forum and I have been researching a lot about the next car I would want to buy. Most likely I will turn to the s2000, but my dilemma here is I found an '06 s2k for about 14k. but the mileage is at 95,XXX. The car has been in 2 minor accident. No frame damage, no salvage title, no serious damage besides the body kit. He has replaced all the parts with a professional mechanic (or so he says). For the rear, he replaced bumper and trunk and rear lights. Second accident was in a parking lot. just some random dude in a truck scratched the hood a bit so he got that replaced. Aside from that everything on the car seems top notch. I haven't test driven it yet, but I will with some of peers who really know how to examine the s2k to check for the engine status and the feel of the car. he has the fenders rolled cuz he had bbs rims and stage 2 act clutch. doesn't seem to have been on the track and carfax seems clean aside from those accidents. I am a student in college so I am low on budget and this will be the first car I will buy for myself and to have it insured. insurance was about 150~200 a month, so it didn't seem too bad due to having no records. i plan on making this car my dd of commuting to school about 8~15 miles back and forth daily.
the car's black on black
exactly how i want it
so everything seems good to go! any advice/tips would be appreciated cuz if not this ap2 '06, i will be considering to find a decent ap1 for around 10k and just play around with it
EDIT: forgot to mention the condition of the car. He has taken care of the car VERY VERY well. like i'm not a crazy expert but doing some research on what he used and the oil he used was ONLY ENOS Nippon oil and original Honda filters at every 3,000 miles. and for everything else he has taken it to only one mechanic and every time who is an s2k specialist.
ASIDE from all the s2k tips and on this post. I would like to hear anything else such as other car options and basically other options out there... i'm just lookin for a fun sporty car to make as a DD and something unique aside from the rest of the crowd. i've been lookin into 240z/280z/300zx as well, so i'm open to suggestions! i want more of a stance car on top of decent performance
thanks a bunch

Please no. Up until this part of your post it seemed mostly harmless...but be prepared for some not-so-friendly replies.
As for that car: if the aftermarket body parts don't bother you it's a pretty good price. The 06+ have the huge advantage of a fully reporgrammable stock ECU so you can use Flashpro as an engine management system if you ever start modding later on. Even stock you can bump vtec down to 5600 (vs 6000 stock) and redline up to 8500 which alone makes the car a lot more fun. Add more mods and it's just even better.
I wouldn't worry too much about the mileage. Mine is nearing 86k and it's been extremely reliable. Then again I bought from owners who took care of it and I do the same. Mine had an accident record on the Carfax but it checked out fine so it was repaired properly and I'm guessing it was very minor...clean title and everything. I would only worry about a collision if the title got changed or if it's obvious the work was done poorly.

i suggest you look into nissans and leave S2K's to people who will actually enjoy the car and treat it well and use it the way it was meant to be used instead of putting some stupid offset wheels with stretched tires on it
thanks for the replies guys
what i mean by stance is clean car
) nice rims and just adjusting the rear/front lights a bit to go along with the color of the car and maybe a set of springs if necessary and a hardtop. those are the only additions i'm lookin at so far aside from preferences.
and in terms of taking care of the car, i will do a lot of research to treat it as well as possible.
)) and not planning on putting some stupid offset wheels with stretched tires ^_^

You're already 3 steps ahead of most S2000 owners out there

Mileage is not an issue if the car was maintained well. That goes for any car, not just the S2000.
Make sure the transmission shifts smooth. Lots of S2000 owners beat on their cars and destroy their synchros because they feel the need to be the next Aryton Senna on the streets.
Covered in countless prior threads. AP1 versus AP2 is a matter of preference and you'll find you answer by test driving. Mileage is just mileage. Maintenance and care matter more.
Have you considered the cost of maintenance and more frequent tire replacements, etc? Have you looked at any of the other, many "looking to buy" threads?
I'd suggest leaving the S and looking elsewhere. Seems like a waste of a good S but to each his own.
