Default quick question- driving with exhaust TIPS off?

I want to polish my exhaust tips before I wash the car, but i want to keep the tips off till after the washing. However, I need to run an errand in between, there shouldn't be any negative effect to driving without the tips should there? They're only cosmetic after all....

It's just a "sleeve". Sorta like a condom without the end. ON/OFF - makes no difference in function.
