Hey, one of the guys who lost his filter at BeaveRun also went off the track due to the spill. Nothing like oil on your rear tires to make the car uncontrollable!

Thanks Pete.

From a quick read of the three threads, here's what got out of them:

Oil filter leaks happened due to

(1) poor install - hand tightening rather than 7/8ths using a wrench (major cause)
(2) poor install - dealership screw up
(3) using a non-OEM adapter
(4) poor install - backing off filter after over tightening
(5) racing

The first four I can ignore, the last does bother me but I wonder if they too were poor installs or maybe they were racer's who really push the limit. I'm puzzeled because we have racers like Triple H who have done 35 events to date without any issues.

I usually tighten it till it strips, then back it off a quarter of a turn.
