Default Radar detector question

I've read some great threads here about hard-wiring detectors, etc and also a few about using remote indicators.

But for now, I've got an Escort 8500 and wondering where on the windshield you're putting it. Can't put it above the rear view mirror, so it seems to end up in the middle of the windshield (not very stealthy). Or are you putting it to the side, or . Once I figure out where I want the thing to go, I'll do the hardwire deal.

Gracias,

Mark

My Passport is mounted just below the mirror, so the rear laser sensor points out the rear window. Buy a 12 foot telephone line and double female adapter to extend the factory 12V cord. You can hide the line in the rubber seals and trim.
You can also hard wire with the phone line. Only about $6.00 at radio shack.

My V1 is just below the mirror. While not out of sight, that's not my primary concern. I want the best possible protection so I positioned it that way...

Ditto that.

V1 on the windshield just below the mirror. EZ Pass just above the V1 blocked from my sight by the mirror. I have the remote Valentine unit that I was thinking of sticking to the top of the dash right next to the left windshield bar where no one could see it from behind because it would be blocked by me and the driver's seat but I hate to use the glue on the dash.

I also have the 8500. I was able to mount it above the rear view mirror. The power can be hardwired to the interior light just above. It has been quite a while but I remember tapping the power at the fuse inside the interior light box.

In my eaflier reply, I mean BELOW the rear view mirror. Sorry for the confusion.
