Default Radio Question

I just purchased an 04 and will be getting my current 00 ready to sell privately. I had the stock head unit replaced with an Eclipse unit. The installer damaged the side of my car, didnt tell me, so it cost him $$ to have it repaired and we were history after that. I wanted to have the dash controls hooked up but I never got it done as I was through with installers like him and didnt know of anyone else in the area. My questions are 1. Is this an easy thing to do with the Eclipse head unit. 2. If it cant be done would I have this feature again if I reinstall the stock radio? I plan to sell the car with the Eclipse and if the controls can be hooked back up I would make an allowance for that cost. If they cannot then I would give the buyer the stock unit so he could choose either one. But I would like to know if the stock unit would regain this feature so that I can be honest in this sale. Thanks for any help/advice.

There's no reason the stock unit shouldn't be able to be hooked back up to the dash controls unless your installed majorly screwed up the wiring. It should just be a plug and play install unless they cut the wiring harness out or something but I don't see any reason they should have done that. As far as getting the Eclipse hooked up if it had an infrared remote then there is an aftermarket device that can help you. I don't remember the name of it but there are many people on the board that have done it.

I'm not sure, But I know Alpine Makes a part that allows their head units to be connected to the driver controls.

Yes...it is very easy as long as you are not colorblind.
Get a DCI from Lucidautomotive. I installed my Eclipse HU a few weeks back with the DCI...works great. Oh, you might wait a little while b/c Modifry is working out some quirks specific to the Eclipse unit. Check the Electronics Forum for more info.

If noone else chimes in you might PM either Pinky or McGyver. I think both of them know how to use the stock controls with aftermarket head units.
