I know most do not like the stock S2K head unit. I'm hoping it's improved on the 2001. Probably not. My question: Is it possible to substitute another Honda head unit that may be of better quality and still retain the existing controls?

Guess I gotta answer this one. No unless you know of another Honda with a DIN size radio that has steering wheel or dash controls.

You spent $32K+ on a new car. Why not spend another $500 for a sound system of the same quality? Ask Pinky for suggestions.

I hope they corrected the sound problems on the 2001. I have no problem putting more $$$ into the car. I'd just like to keep all the dash controls working just like they did from the factory without using any extra devices. My wife's Accord V6 has a very nice stock stereo. Probably not as good as some of your aftermarket setups, but I didn't have to touch it. Of course Honda has been working on the Accord for quite some time.

The Accord and the S are for two different types of customer. They spent the R&D on performance not creature comforts, which I would assume is the reason you bought the car in the first place. I am actually glad they didn't spend the money on the sound system; it would have raised the price of the car. Ommition of the stereo would have been the best option, but I don't think the entire customer base would approve.

When the new Civic coupe came out in '93, Honda did not include a stereo w/ the EX (top grade). Their reasoning, I assume, was the majority of the market would replace it anyway.

For the stereo they are not going to beef up the speakers or put a higher powered radio in there. You guys are lucky that you got a clock!

Well if your serious about changing the head or upgrading the system beyond a set of speakers which is a no brainer then please contact me and I will be happy to help.

I wont profess to be a god but I know quite a lot about this stuff. Though at times I have been proven wrong. I will admit to it if you can prove me wrong. Just try!
