A nice, cool 53*F to start the day. It should be sunny and high in the 80s. Sure would be nice to have that dang S right about now! Patience...patience...

Have to drive up to Milwaukee for a funeral. One of the downsides of being "vintage". At least I'll see some faces I haven't seen in a while.

Beautiful today here in the Nation's Capital. Sunny and in the low 80s. The calm before the storm late Thurs. Projections still show it coming straight up the Chesapeake Bay right over us. Not a pretty picture.

Hopefully the forecaster's are correct and the storm will weaken, Deb. If it stays as slow as it is there's a good chance the cooler water up your way will have a positive effect on the storm and it won't be as bad as it is now. Got my fingers crossed.

Well, I hope you are right...there is some concern that it will pick up some strength again when it hits the warm waters of the Gulf Stream. Projected storm surge of 20 ft up the Bay to the tidal Potomac, which ends right here in DC. Rainfall of 8-10 inches on top of a really wet spring/summer. I'm in a high-rise condo with my baby parked underneath in the garage, so am not too concerned for myself, assuming we don't blow away. More worried about my elderly parents and their house. I can see for miles into the distance across DC and MD, so will have a spectacular view of this event...if it doesn't scare the you-know-what out of me!!

That's probably the real concern for that entire area, the additional rainfall and risk of flooding. Are your building and your parent's home on somewhat higher ground? I heard on the news this morning that the military is getting out of Dodge already, Norfolk is having a traffic jam from all the ships hightailing it out and the aviation contingents are winging their way to safer territory.

Stay safe Deb.
