Default rattling from dashboard??

I have noticed a rattling noise coming from somewhere near the middle of the dashboard as far as I can tell. It happens only when I accelerate through 2,3,or 4th gears from about 2500rpm to about 3500rpm. any ideas??

My rear view mirror does this some times and sounds just like it is coming from the dash. Next time you hear it put your hand on the mirror and see if it stops.

Whadup...

I had a similar problem when I first got mine. It really sounded like there was something rattling in the dash, but after a while I figured out that it was the sun visors. To stop the rattling sound I just cut up a black sock and put part of it between each visor and the top of the windshield. It sounds perfect now, and it's not like I ever use the visors anyways. If the suns gets in your eyes, just get yourself a cool pair of shades.....

I agree, I hear the same noise coming from the rear view mirror / dome light. When I put my hand on the light it stops. Could it be a loose wire or screw? Anyway, the next time I go into service, in about 2000 miles, I'll have the dealer look at it. Anyone else have an idea on what it is?

I've had it too, but it's gone away and I haven't heard it in about 2-3 months. I thought it was coming from the dash just above and to the right of the radio. I think it is a clip that's loose, because when I banged my palm on the dash I could hear the rattle.

As it's gone away (for now), I am reluctant to start banging on the dash again!

Haven't been back to the dealer as yet to see if they know what it is.

thanks for the help. I will look into all of these things. If nothing else, I'll take it into the dealer and tell them I didn't pay 32k for a car that rattles.

That's your only rattle? Wait until you put a stereo system in there, I've been chasing rattling gremlins for a good six months.

I had the same problem. I took it to the dealer and they orderd and replaced my rear view mirror which solved the problem.

Thank you!!!!!!
I've been putting up with that rattle for 22 years in my 2001 S2000.
After reading this, on my next ride I put a golf between the visor and roof and no rattle.
