most just replace the whole top. very few do the window as the front and back of the top won't match due to UV fading.

I am thinkingto do this too as a lo cost solution to the whole top
there is another string on the top replacement which will also cover the window insert part
the window insert is zipped to the rest of the top and can be unzipped ( if the zipper is not corroded in place )
at both ends there is a kind of staple( available as a spare ) that needs to be removed for the zipper to unzip completely
the rear window insert will be rivetted to the body under the black trim moulding and the rivets will need to be drilled out( available as a spare )
will be interested to hear how you get on
The rear top hoop will need some elastic strpping attached to the next one so that as the top folds it " compresses forward " to avoid folding into the unflexible glass and cracking it
hope this helps
cheers
Paul
