Default Reducing highway RPM?

Car is an 06 w/ a Kraftwerks charger on it. 4500rpm @ 75mph just isn't necessary under any circumstances. The car has more than enough power to be geared 10% taller, but I haven't seen any ring gears that would work. Anything in the 3.8ish range that will fit?

You have an 06, why are you at 4500rpm @ 75mph? It should be at 4000rpm.

Sorry, 4k. It should be at ~3600 or less.

I think the most reasonable answer is cruise at a lower mph.... I havent heard of such an option for our cars or anyone else who would want to do such a thing but to each his own good luck!

To reduce RPM at cruise, drive slower

Since the majority of the community is not in the same situation as you (more than enough power), I would suggest that the main focus has been on making the rear end taller.

If you do find a solution, however, you might start a new market. Who knows?

WTF? OK, so he's in a 75MPH zone on the highway and he should cruise below that? Bzzzt, wrong answer. Personally, I've just kind of gotten used to the rpm at 75 MPH. It's only about half speeed on the motor.

my dad had an old 280z and he had the transmission redone and they added a gear. I believe it was a 4spd and they changed it to a 5 or maybe 5-6 not sure. But im wondering if its possible to add say a 7th gear allowing your 75-80 mph rpm to be around 2.5-3k. You could always shift down to 6th or 5th to get more power but if you were on a highway ware you didnt need it you could throw it in say 7th and get good mpg.

i dont know if any of thats possible. His z was either 5 or 4 to begin with and a 5 and 6spd transmission is alot easier to come buy than a 7.
