get a 7spd tranny from from spoon/mugen fantasy works and that should help.

seriously though, look at it from an AP1 owners perspective who would love to have 75mph@4000rpms.

WTF? OK, so he's in a 75MPH zone on the highway and he should cruise below that? Bzzzt, wrong answer. Personally, I've just kind of gotten used to the rpm at 75 MPH. It's only about half speeed on the motor.

hes in cali and the highest posted speed limits are 70mph

you're in ohio and the highest posted speed limits are 65mph

care to tell me where these magical 75mph posted speed limit zones are?

im still wondering how people are saying they get 35+++ mpg on the highway when the rpm is so high. my car revs at 3k @ 70 and i thought that was crazy
throttle position, not rpm...

though they go hand in hand

and 35+mpg people are probably calculating wrong anyway

70 is nothing in CA. Most people drive 75-85 in free flowing traffic. Especially in desert areas.

I agree this car needs a highway gear for gas mileage on the freeway, I know they are trying to compensate for the limited power but this engine spins higher than a freakin geo metro at 70 mph....my RX-7 is turning about 3k rpm in comparison, and it's a 1.3 L!!

OP...

www.gearvendors.com

give them a call... they have an overdrive setup that bolts onto the tailshaft of many transmissions... this gives you an extra overdrive gear... technically it can be activated in any gear making a 6spd manual into a "12" speed manual...

pricey though.. $3,000 - 5,000

believe me, I've seen the rotary displacement argument thousands of times on rx7club.com...it's 1.3 L, I'll take the word of the engineers who built the thing over anyone
