Default Reliability of Digital Instrumentation

I am very close to buying an s2k. Any of you who have had the car since 2000, has the digi speedo and tach been reliable and trouble free?

I never liked digital dashes, but if anyone could pull it off, it's Honda. Insight, please!

Mine has 75k, 3 1/2 years, no problems. I haven't heard of anyone else having trouble either.

Strike: With such a long ownership history, can you comment upon your experiences with:
a) Tires
b)Clutches
c) Other stuff (HID lights, shock absorbers, tranny, soft top, leather seats?)
Just curious and also willing to hear tips on car care for this particular model.
TIA
Daniel

Having owned my S for 14 months (and lurked on this site since October '01) I can say I've never encountered any digital dash problems or read about any.
I can appreciate your concerns...I remember some '80s GM cars experiencing dashboard "blackouts."...but Honda tends to get these things right, in my experience.

I wouldn't worry about it. There's no moving parts and it's just a simple LCD display.

a) yes I've gone through tires. Lots of them. I track the car so my tire usage is probably only representative of my usage. For street usage people usually get ~10-12k on the rears and ~15-20k on the fronts.

b) It's about time for me to do the clutch.

c) No problems with HID's. Other parts of the car have been pretty much trouble free as well. The car has been garaged since day one. Haven't had any issues with the leather, soft top, etc...but being garaged has certainly helped in that area. Someone who parks on the street may have a different experience.

Overall the car has been good to me. It has been used as a daily driver and weekend toy with minimal problems. Some people have had some issues but there's no way to know whether the frequency of problems with the S2K is more or less than other models. Honda may know but we never will.
