Default Removing glass from the rear view mirror

After months of waiting I finally got my spoon rear view mirror. It comes with double side tape, but I was wondering if I can install it like the side view mirrors. Has anybody tried taking the glass off so I can replace it instead of just mounting it on top?
With summer just around the corner I'm afraid the 100F+ weather will make the glass fall and break.

If someone figures this out without needing to hack up the original mirror and housing (so I can return it to stock if needed), I'd probably buy the Spoon mirror. The reason I didn't get one was because I don't want to just stick it on top of the original.

Are you talking about the REAR view or the SIDE mirrors?

i've had mine stuck on with the double sided tape for a few months now without problems.

i didn't see a way to take apart the stock mirror. also, the spoon mirror is slightly smaller than stock. i don't think it would stay mounted in the stock's location. i think you would still need to use tape or glue to hold it in place.

I installed 'Level' mirrors many years ago. Essentially identical to the Spoons for install. They've been on for 7 years, no problems. BTW, you CANNOT pull your original mirror and replace with the Spoon. The originals have specific mounting points, that these 'tape on' mirrors don't have.

Sorry for this major bump but I'm looking for some info on this.

Im really only interested in how to remove the glass and or what it looks like behind the glass. So if anyone has gutted one of these at one point please share.
I want to replace the glass and I am not interested in buying a new mirror or tape on stuff.
