Default Replaced rear S02's finally...

Just replaced my rear Potenza S02's on MY02 at 11,700 miles. Paid $220/each installed and balanced at the Honda dealer. Went to a number of other tire places and found a wide range of prices but all very close to what Honda wanted. After looking at the crews who would be doing the work at various tire places, I opted to have Honda do it for just a few bucks more. I had had to remind myself that the oily slob putting the tires on would also be test driving my car. (bad visual) Honda takes pretty good care with service and always gives a hand car wash after any service. Not sure I will choose the S02's for my front tires when they are ready for replacement. I do not push the car so don't need the best of performance tire but do like the handling this tire provides.

Nurd:
If you are happy with the service and price that is all that matters. I would assume that when you say "front tires" you mean when the front tires wear and you have to replace all four. It would probably be a mistake to mix different tires front and rear.

Happy Motoring.

I would not mix and match tires. My guess is when the fronts are worn, the rears will be ready for replacement once again and that is when I will consider other options. Always looking for suggestions on longer wearing replacements yet still maintaing reasonable high performance. I also know there are threads for this and am looking into.

Also consider the Toyo Proxes 4. Much longer tread life (300 treadwear rating) and I can still drive hard in the twisties............just not as hard as with S02s.

The nice thing is they are half the price and last twice as long. Last set I got 20k outta the rears and 40k outta the fronts.

Much better water channeling abilities too, but then again just about any tire channels water better than an S02. Just the way the S02 is designed = max dry grip.

Enjoy the ride!!!!!

You should keep going with the S02's. It's hard to find a better tire, maybe cheaper tires you can find. Unless you changed the rears to something else and then the fronts to match the rears would've been the smarter way to go, but no worries just keeep using S02's

$200/tire is quite pricey if you're not going for maximum grip. If you're going to pay that for a tire, get some Hoosiers and drive them where maximum grip matters, a track (or parking lot).

Thanks for al the great tips... I don't mind spending 200+ per tire, but you would think that better wear would be available. Those Fuzion ZRI tires are catching my eye for the next all four tire purchase at a fraction of the price.
