Default replacing the button/clip on the glove box

has anyone done this without changing out the lock? some punks broke mine off trying to get in the glove box (i assume), and while i can still open it (much harder than before obviously) it looks horrible. i ordered the assembly (about 20 bucks) but i really don't want to have to change the lock (since it won't match my keys).
