return from purgatory
At the end of June, I got rear ended. Dropping the car at the shop, i cajoled the other insurance company into renting me an 'equivalent' vehicle, being a V6 Mustang convertible. "You want a Mustang convertible? You only have a Honda!" "Do you know what an S2000 is? Go check with your supervisor" "Please hang on...... we'll cover it."
So for the last few weeks I've been driving that Mustang around. Pluses: I could take more than one kid somewhere. And, um, well, I guess that's it.
It had reasonable torque, if you were willing to floor it to get it to kick down, or manually shift it to first. You know, flog it like it was stolen, er, a rental. Thus, it sucked gas down, getting no where near its EPA rating (which I almost get in the S2000). It felt like a wallowing barge going around corners, and the brakes inspired fear every time I needed to use them. And boy, does it carry it's ample mass in the form of momentum, making you want more brakes then it has.
(I autocrossed an SVO Mustang, which was a good car, so take this as model specific bashing)
I got the S2000 back Monday. $5400 worth of work. It initially felt really small, and low. And smooth, and solid, and confidence inspiring.
I'm happy again. Except for this spark plug TSB thing.

dB, I definitely feel your pain! I just dropped my car off 1300 miles away to have stuff done to it, and while I will be in Europe the whole time the work is being done, it still hurt to leave it so far away!
Glad you got your S2000 back... enjoy it for me too!
