In 4th Gear

1. After slowing down (through braking or letting off the throttle)
2. Press clutch in, shift into third
3. Blip (give the throttle a little nudge to increase RPM)
4. Let out clutch slowing while applying some throttle

You get used to it, it almost feels dirty to not rev-match after a while.
Hmm, weird, i never have the need to apply throttle while letting off the clutch after I blip the throttle to rev match. this is how I do it (assuming you're using this to slow down a bit before entering a corner)

1. Brake
2. (Engage clutch) Downshift to lower gear
3. Blip throttle
4. Let off clutch

Correct me if i'm wrong because I've been doing it this way since day 1

Letting out clutch slowing while applying throttle is slipping the clutch.... not good.

Clutch/shift/rev/clutch is different than Clutch/rev/shift/clutch.

I love rev-matching this car. Sounds so beautiful.

Hm. Not to thread jack or anything but I've always learned to double clutch downshift and I didn't realize there was another way until reading this thread. Assuming I'm already downshifting well, is it a better idea to reteach myself to downshift w/out double clutching?

It's preference. IMO, rev-matching is better. Your leg doesn't look like your having a seizure everytime you downshift.

our trannys are well built that we dont really have to double clutch. but more power to you for learning a new technique. i know my friends with a wrx have to double clutch because the tranny is as well built. when they drove my car they said our trannys were like butter.

Don't you have to put the car in neutral when rev matching so the transmission will also match the speed? People here it looks like were saying just to push the clutch in with it in that gear. I was under the impression that you also had to put it into neutral so the transmission would catch up with the engine as well.

^i think thas double clutching. but i always clutch->rev->shift->let clutch out. but i do that because if i dont rev before i put the gear in sometimes it'll grind. i dono everyone has their own way i guess.
