Default rev matching question

ok, a newbie question for all you shifting pros out there. let's say you are downshifting from 4th to 3rd and intend to rev match. you press in the clutch to begin the downshift. do you blip the throttle (i) before you begin moving the shifter out of 4th and into 3rd, or (ii) blip when the shifter is in neutral in between 4th and 3rd, or (iii) blip after the the shifter is in 3rd but before you let the clutch out? or does it matter, as long as the shift process happens quickly and the revs match when you let out the clutch? thanks!

blip in neutral. blipping before u get you get out of gear will just 'stab' the car. blipping after you go in gear doesnt help the sychros.

I usually push the clutch in, blip the throttle and then engage into the lower gear. when I do it in one motion it usually works the best. It makes more sense to blip when the tranny is in neutral.

i guess i simultaneously blip the throttle while moving the shifter to third.....maybe blip the throttle a fraction of a second before actually moving the shifter.....

How close to the right RPM do you guys get off of your blip? Within 500 or something? I have little experience driving manny trannies so i don't know how easy it is to get real close.

exact...or at least i try to be....try to be a couple hundred RPM above the target RPM for the next gear when you release the clutch pedal so that the RPM will fall to the target RPM by the time you're in gear. don' t worry, drive the car for a couple of months and you'll figure out what the target RPM should be for any gear

There are 2 ways to blip (rev-match).
one is while clutch is in, you blip .. (synchros will do the job)
other one is while in neutral, you blip ( called double clutch.. no stress on synchros)

and when you get an exhaust upgrade, the blip becomes part of the sound system!!

i find that i blip and rev match more for the sound than anything else- the added bene is that my brake pads are like new with almost 20k miles on them...
