Review: Spoon Clutch/Disk/Flywheel
I got the Spoon clutch kit (i.e. clutch + metal disk) and flywheel installed today. It was a very bad installation experience -- please check out https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=39197 for the sad details.
But as for the clutch kit and flywheel, I couldn't be happier!
The reviews that state "It's like driving a new car." are not exaggerating -- it truly is a completely new experience!
To sum it up:
1. The clutch kit is much grabbier. The feel is of a direct transfer to the wheels at any given RPM. I'm breaking it in now, so now reviews on how the clutch holds up during high RPMs, but I'll post my findings once I have some.
2. The flywheel is noticeably lighter, but not 'too' light as to affect torque especially up-hill. Blipping the throttle to rev-match is much easier, and yes, you do have to be 'on the ball' all the time to avoid dropping your revs too much and bogging.
I strongly suggest looking into a clutch kit/flywheel early on your mod-path. The effects are definitely feel-able, and the stronger clutch and lighter flywheel works off your previous/future mods perfectly! I personally chose Spoon as I am trying to build a Spoon-spec S2K piece by piece!

very nice i also plan to have some tsb work done to my car and plan to replace everything with the spoon products you mentioned... may i ask how much weight reduction the whole kit did to your wallet? thanks, mike
at least its about his S. I wonder if I should list out certain modifcations, like stripped the material around the shift boot to match my Ti Voodoo knob, Ti Voodoo knob, all my different floor mats, Muz mats, various Rick's leather stuff, and this doesn't even touch under the hood, or suspension. hmmm.

So.. the rattling noise isn't from the clutch? I have the rattling noise too, and I'm going to order the Spoon clutch and flywheel soon. If I get it installed, do I still need to get the TSB done? I'm trying to avoid dealers as much as possible.
So, the bottom line, will installing the Spoon (or any aftermarket) clutch and flywheel cure the rattling noise?

My understanding is that the rattling is from the stock metal disk. The TSB replaces the stock disk with a 'quieter' version.
I haven't noticed the Spoon clutch + metal disk rattle. But keep in mind I do have the Spoon N1 exhaust, and that thing's pretty loud!
