Default TSB 054 Would you swape clucthes.

My 2001 S2000 has been diagnosed with a "buzzing" clutch which is fully defined with remedy in the Honda TSB 054 bulletin. Question is it worth swapping one OEM clutch for another? My dealer Port City Honda will not replace the clutch with a non Honda after marked clutch even if that clutch is better built. So do I really bother with another Honda clutch which may or may not solve the problem?
What would you do?

If they won't put in another clutch then... you dont have much choice unless you want to pay for the labor. The ACT clutch is the exact same thing as an OEM clutch - only that it says ACT on it. Star clutch system have four stages, and the first two stages are reworked OEM units. Stage three, a four puck design, and the stage four unit, are custom built and not that much more expensive (199 and 149 respectively). They aren't going to be quiet, but they will grip! If you are interested in any of these, send me a PM or an email.

So if you swap out the OEM clutch with an aftermarket one, the rattling/buzzing noise will go away? So theres no need to take my car in after getting an aftermarket clutch for the TSB054?

Yes, I would definitely swap out the stock clutch, metal disk, and flywheel for aftermarket components -- it truly makes a difference. Whether you go with Star, ACT, Spoon, Toda etc. -- I'm sure any of these will be better than the stock parts. Personally, I went with Spoon! Check out my review here:

BUT, I would strongly re-consider bringing it to a Honda dealer while you do the TSB. Check out my experience at a local Honda service department:

It appears that a lot of folks here have had problems with Honda service departments...very disappointing considering we own their damn flagship offering!!
