Just wondering if anyone else experiences a ringing sound coming from the back when pulling a U turn. I was driving my S2K last night and had to pull a U turn and heard a ringing sound coming from the back, probably the transmission. I know other people on the board have heard ringing sounds when decelerating and such, but has anyone heard it while U turning. The only time I hear the ringing is when I have the steering wheel all the way over. Maybe I should check the power steering fluid.

You might want to try and do a search for the tsb or whatever..I remember reading someone posting that if you do a full u turn or something at 30 mph or so that if you hear a clanking sound or whatever that it is your transmission or clutch or somethjng like that!..can't think right now..try and do a search tho'...

It could be your LSD and probably not abnormal. Your power steering requires no fluid. It is not a hydraulic system, but is an electrically powered assist system. It won't be too long before all cars have this system.

I have light clunking noises when making u turns. I have taken it to the dealer to get it checked out, they said that the LSD is supposed to make slight noises because of the keeping both tires spinning at the same time. My car has 12,000 miles and the noise hasn't really gotten worse, but my car has started axle hopping quite a bit in the wet especially. Anyways the tech said it was okay for this kinda of car.

If you're still on your original tires the "axle hopping" is probably due to that because at 12K miles your tread may getting a bit thin. Solid rear axles exhibit hop, or tramp, but I don't think IRS w/LSD do.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the help. I had a feeling that the noise was probably normal.

lvs2k, I didn't know that our power steering was not hydraulic. There's so much technology in our cars. Just another cool reason to own an S2K.
