Default Road Trip without a soft top or hard top

I bought a CR a little while back and of course I have no soft top on the car. I plan on doing a few road trips with the car without the hard top. Has anyone done this? If so what should I do if it starts to rain? Do people just bring water proof car covers with and wait out the storm?

Of course these would be well planned according to the weather forecast but we all know those can be wrong.

Any ideas?

I used "search"

I would advise not to make such a trip if the forecast calls for poor weather. I would hate to have my S made into a bathtub. Im not sure that even the "waterproof" car covers are totally waterproof. Maybe a tarp of some sort you can cover the car with and strap down.

Take the hardtop with you, when you get to where your staying take it off and store it inside, and enjoy the CR topless.

The whole point of my question is to not take the top with me. Leave it at home in the garage.

When it starts to rain, hit the gas, as long as you're going 60+ mph you should stay dry...

In all seriousness though, a company called "California PopTop" makes an "umbrella top" for the S2000. http://www.capoptop.com/size.htm That's their website

After a quick search I also found a post where an S2KI member had this on for 4 hours in the rain and said it stayed on and his interior was dry, his post can be found here: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...c=700489&st=25 (it's on the second page near the bottom)

I'd be worried about what happens when the drunks come back to the hotel parking lot and see that open interior begging to be urinated in.

not a good idea at all...i mean you can get lucky but i wouldn't risk it with no option to put the top up at all. i guess you should've just gotten a non-cr..which is the biggest turn off for me in buying a cr in the future.

I wouldn't count on this though. It's really the OP's call to make.
