We've had a few people call inquiring about a roll bar so they could run track events with their S2K. How many owners would seriously consider getting one and what would you consider as a fair price that you would pay for one?

I would be interested. Can it be designed to integrate into the car without cutting any panels? I'd also want to be able to mount my harnesses off of it.

I'm a little reluctant to indicate how much I'd spend as I don't want to insult you Mike, or unneccarily rip myself off! . I know that in Australia, I paid $1100 for a fully custom built CAMS (Equivalent of SCCA) approved 9 point full roll cage.

How much should a half cage cost?

not necessarily interested in the cage here - but a bar would be nice, something to latch some harnesses onto.

Well, not to step on Comptech's toes, but I know Mugen has a full roll cage available, although I don't know if it's for sale yet. It will probably be $$$$$$$, though!

I don't think Autopower has any S2K stuff yet, but their stuff usually ranges from ~$200 for a simple roll bar to ~$600 for a full cage. I'd say if Comptech could match those prices, they'd do pretty well as far as sales go.

I'd potentially be interested, if

either removable or looks finished
doesn't interfere with top
meets SCCA requirements
can mount harness
not too expensive

But that's probably asking too much; I might give on one of those.

Please keep us informed.

Thanks,

Ted

I'd be interested in a roll bar as well, but something that mounts to the car without any custom work and the top can fold over, that's it. Oh, keep the price affordable ~ $500 or less if possible. Thanks.

yes, but same as the others (roll bar, not roll cage; top still works; easy install; not too expensive).

Mike,

This has been discussed in the racing & competition forum, see http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...p?threadid=6532 . I know that Cusco makes one for around $495, and some have installed custom made units. The ideal solution for me would be a bar that allows the use of the top, but that sits higher than the stock roll hoops, meets the requirements for track use in driver education classes and looks decent. Tedster expresses my desired design goals pretty well.

Sime - I don't think that a roll bar can be added without cutting into the plastic panels, but I don't see that as a problem. If you ever return to the stock setup, just replace the panels too.
