Did a search but nothing obvious came up. I just want to know if I need to install roll bars for auto crossing.

Unless you go to a Prepared class or faster. Any of the stock classes for Solo 2 don't require a rollbar.

Consider also if this will be a street driven car or not. If the bar is going to be within 6inches of your head then you run the risk of serious head injury or death if you get rearended without a helmet on.

Being safer at the track may not be worth the extra danger on the street.

A roll bar is fine with a helmet.....without one it can be lethal. The whole reason that side impact air bags exist is because people suffered serious head injury or death by hitting the top of the door frame/roof with their head. Watch them test dummies in side impacts, the most often cause of serious injury is the dummies head hitting the top of the door. This is why the side impact air bags are thier to prevent that exact style of impact.

Now consider that rear impacts are much more more common than side impacts. Think about what happens in a rear impact. Your car is hit and the force causes it to go forward. The driver stays where he is. A roll bar that is too close to your head(6" is just a ballpark) will hit you in the back of the head in an impact.

This impact can be quite lethal because of it's stealth. You can think you're ok when in fact you have a slow internal bleed on your brain. If you have an accident and your head hits the roll bar it can be critical to get a cat scan. You may have internal bleeding and not know it.

Rollbars are great safety items on the track but can be lethal on the street. Make sure you have proper clearance between you're head and the rollbar. Even putting high impact foam may not be enough to really protect you, but it is better than nothing.

You can still decide to put one in but you should be aware of the street safety risks...
