Roll bar Speakers (pics)
Looks cool to me. I think people might say it doesn't look like pro work because a pro probably wouldn't locate the speakers where you put them. But like you said, you like them. If you ask me, the install looks excellent, and if you like the sound, then what else matters?
Personally, I wouldn't do it like that. Guess I'm an imaging guy. Not anally so, but I don't like high pitched sound right next to my head, either... sounds off-balance to me. But who cares what I think?

Lucid,
I don't know why anyone would put you down for your work. It is inventive, subtle and best of all it works well. I love it. I would have never thought of putting tweeters there. The best thing about your work is that it was a CLEAN install. So clean in fact that only one word can describe it... SANITARY!!
To all the haters: There are plenty of boy ricer sites that you can join and spend your time putting each other down. No one here needs that kind of non-sense, especially accomplished members like Lucid.

What's the big deal with giving Lucid the feedback he's asked for? If I've got the guts to stand up in public and sing "Oh, Canada", then I'd better be prepared for some to love it, some to hate it, and some to wonder why a Kentuckian is trying to sing this song.
Similarly, if RL says he thinks it looks unprofessional for there to be a tweeter seeming to just rest in the hoop of the roll bar... why is everyone going off on his opinion, or the fact that he's posted it? He plainly said... "I don't care for it, but it's not my car"... you want nothing but positive strokes, no matter what I really think?
If I mounted tweeters on the top of the dash, no matter how "clean" or seemless the install, I think most of us would agree that it would look cheap and unprofessional. I don't think RL was referring to the quality of Lucid's installation or engineering... just his choice of tweeter location. When I mounted my external tweeters in the Maxima, I intentionally put them in the corners of the door (triangular plastic piece inside the side mirrors), where they're virtually invisible (black on black). If I were to ever put separates in the S, I'd shoot for the same tweeter location, because the "professional-ness" of the location is important to me, as is the imaging (not perfect in that location, but not too bad).

I've got mixed feelings about the headrest placement myself. I agree with Lucid's contention that you're barking up the wrong tree if you're looking for audiophile quality sound in a roadster, but imaging issues bug me enough when the speakers are placed traditionally. I can't imagine how much this would annoy me over time. Likewise, if I were looking to buy an S2000 and found this, it would detract from the car's value.
However, like RL, we're not talking about my car here, so...
Hmm... maybe everyone should ignore my post, since it doesn't contain a rousing endorsement of Lucid's (admittedly) creative solution. Sorry if that makes me a "hater," or if that means this message qualifies as a put-down. (Lucid, I hope you know I have a great deal of respect for your work, even if it uses an approach I wouldn't choose for myself.)
(oops... I guess that last paragraph was another rant. <g>)
