Default Rough Start-Up

Hi gang,

Not sure if this should be in the FI-section, but I figured you folks here can help me out as well. Did searches but could not come up with this specific topic. Here's my situation;

I have an 05 AP2 and just recently installed a Greddy turbo kit. The S runs like an absolute dream, idles perfectly and boosts like a champ. My only concern is that the start-ups are extremely rough. I hit the start button and everything turns the way it's supposed to, only it takes much longer now to catch and actually start. Sometimes, rougher than others but never as quick as before the turbo install. I took the car to Honda World in Downey, CA (a very badass dealer, very pleasant people to deal with) and they tested the entire charging system. Battery voltage and load checked out perfectly so I'm left guessing. Battery doesn't die and click like a busted alternator would do.

I'm wondering if this rough start-up is directly related to having added colder plugs to compliment the boosting kit.

Here were my mods before boost:
Apex V-AFC with frog harness(tuned by Shaun Church), K&N FIPK, Megan Header, Berk HFC, Apex WS exhaust and krank vents.

Here are my mods after boost kit:
Greddy Turbo kit, AEM EMS with Modifry ECT-Patch, Berk HFC and Apex WSII exhaust and one step colder NGK plugs.

Please let me know if you can help or if anyone can offer any ideas.

Thank you so much in advance for your help.

How about the ems programming.

I never programmed one but I know getting a good startup tune was a big deal on dsm's among guys that had eproms and programmed their own maps, trims, etc.

Also, how is the startup when the engine is still warm, and when you turn the car off and then immediately restart it?

Hhhmm...I will talk to my tuner about looking further into his start-up tune.

Also, Start-up is more harsh after having just turned off the motor. Cold Starts seem to be less of an issue. Warm starts concern me a greater deal as well because they usually find me away from my own garage.

Thank you for that idea of looking into in improperly tuned start-up.

Can someone else offer other avenues to look into or have some expertise on this issue?

farken EMS man!

My tuner is going to take a second look at the start-up calibration on the EMS.

But I also found out that my spark plugs are in fact three steps colder than they were originally. I may swap to a two or one step in the very near future.

Thanks Vader!
