I was recently running 17x9+44 offset wheels with unrolled rear fenders and I didn't rub.

Your tire size is robbing you. Back the tire size off to 235 Falken RT615 or 245 (Other brands), roll your fenders and you will clear easily.

I am also lowered a fair amount as well.

An alignment will run around $100-$200.

Fly him down, hotel him, feed him, and send him back

Everyone assumed you were talkin about rolling the fenders. I wouldn't dream of running thinner tires on the rear! You want as much tread width as you can get! Any large steering input at high speed is going to unsettle the rear, thinner tires would make the steering input necessary to unsettle the car that much smaller. A good alignment will run you about 80 dollars and they should be able to add camber, but before you add camber and increase tire wear you need to roll up the lip on the fenders. If you cant find anyone with a fender roller you can heat the lipr and jack up the car and carefully use a baseball bat to roll that lip up.

He could run 205/235 Falken or 215/245 other brands.

I recommended the Falken 235 as they are about the same size as other brands' 245s.

I run 215/255 Falken Rt615's.. I think 225 are a little to wide on the front unless you're running 265 rears. If you buy agressive wheels like that you should get your moneys worth in performance.. I think running the thinner tires would be a good idea only if you plan to sell the car and go back to stock one day. Otherwise it's just a bandaid.

You need to keep in mind that most people will not track their S. For daily, I am running 225 45/, 235/40. My favorite track setup however is 235/255 even though the steering is a bit more sluggish.
