Don't let him pay for the damage and make him feel like he now owes you. Use that against him for the entirety of your professional work relationship with him.

Sounds like an ass to me.

I agree with the poster above. If I did that to a coworker's car, I would feel awful NOT paying for it.
Sounds like harrasment to me.

I know he's your boss, but make him pay for the damage.
Man, I'm surprised you're handling the whole situation very calm.
I'd be PISSED!!

If your boss is the person you say he is he will insist that he pay for it. If it were me in his situation you couldn't get me to not pay for it. If you refused I would add it to your check.

What ever happened to the good old days when if you made a mistake you owned it and made it right!

Sorry for the rant I feel better now.

I would get it fixed properly. You don't want to be disappointed in six months. Don't take him for a ride. Get a couple of quotes from good body shops and go from there.

Good luck.

I'd most certainly feel obligated to pay, and I'd insist if I caused damage to a nice car like that, even small. If he's a good honest person, there shouldn't even be an issue, and he should insist to pay for it. It appears he will let you make the decision, so you really need to look at this from a repair standpoint, and get it repaired in the most affordable manner, and keep things honest.

This could lead to future resentment, especially if that paint continues to chip, and it becomes worse. Get it fixed, and have him pay for it. It's morally the right thing to do, and since he's not like me, and wouldn't insist to pay for it, you should really step up to the plate. Good luck!!!

First of all I get infuritated when I see people talking on their cell phones and at the same time trying to drive in parking lots. Playing games with parking close to you is a sign of immaturity. I would tell him nicely that I dont appreciate this type of behavior and I expect him to pay for damages.
