S2 VTEC & VTEC Controller?
Someone please enlighten me...
Berfore my S2, I have never ventured into the promised land of VTEC. Now an acquaintance of mine (19 yrs. old) was saying: "If you get a VTEC controller, you can set it up to go into VTEC at about 4000 rpms".
uh?

4000 is way too low to engage V-tec.... i think you might be ok with 5700. i set my vafc to kick in at 5600 and i felt a little hestitation before she would bite...
read up on vafc settings as there should be a ton of info on the board

VTEC is a wonderful thing until someone misunderstands how and why it works. This is similar to the days of 4 barrel carbs. Some guys used to put manual linkages to activate the secondary barrels as soon as the gas pedal was pushed. You still had to be gentle with the throttle as the engine bogged badly. An engine can only take so much air/fuel at any given rpm. Lowering VTEC beyond optimal will only make the engine run worse.
