I had my first drive in an S2000 last night, and here are my random thoughts.
- I can't stop laughing from the joy of jumping into VTEC
- The visual sight line over the hood is so much better than the BMW M-Roadster, you can really see where you are going
- The moment I sat down and got the seat adjusted I was comfortable, great layout of controls and ergonomics
- The readability of the tach and the speedo were no problem at all, yes it was very sunny outside
- This ain't no stoplight dragster, my slammed & tricked CRX-Si would eat this thing alive, up to about 55mph
- It was a lot quieter than I thought it would be, I'll need a louder exhaust
- I can't stop laughing from the joy of jumping into VTEC
- Precise steering, lack of cowl shake and handling are incredible, the best open top I've ever driven
- The brakes are the best I have felt in a stock Japanese car, made me think for a second I was driving a BMW which have incredible stopping power
- I can't wait to place my order for a 2002!
- The guy who bought this car and traded it for a Benz after 3,500 miles is crazy
- A glass rear window was needed right from the beginning- shame on you Honda!
- If you live in the Upstate New York area, or don't mind a bit of traveling, I would suggest you contact Roy Patterson at HOLTZ HONDA, this dealership knows what we want, a simple fair price, AND Roy is a super person to work with. They have a few used S2000 and new S2000 on the lot. NO- I ain't getting a kick-back, just wanting to share.

- Where is the option for heated seats?
- I will always wonder why there is not a digital read-out in the instrument pod for what gear you are in, it may sound dumb to some, but with the 6-speed this could be a very health reminder
- The technology in this car is from the future and will be modern for a long time to come, the technology in the M-Roadster is already dated, not to mention the design
- Is there a stereo in the car? I forgot to turn it on I was having so much fun listening to the engine music
- Did I mention the smile that took over my face every time the S2000 jumped into VTEC?

s2k3132- thanks for the laugh, obviously you've been in the area before, Phoenix AZ must allow you a lot more S2K playtime!
My little Spa Yellow will be just a garage queen from November to April most years because of the snow and then a dual-purpose track and street car from May to October.
The bunnies are going to have to accept me in my Nissan 4x4 Pickup.
Come on HONDA; give us a truck, not an SUV!

The night I bought my S2K, I drove it back to back with an '00 M Roadster. I gotta say, you hit the nail on the head with everything you said. The first time I turned a corner in the S2K, I was sold - and when I wound it up to 8k, I just about made a mess on the seats. The interior of the M is nice - no question about that, but the H was soooo comfoable, I felt like living in it. And the shifter! Don't get me started about how great that is.
I actually started talking $$ to the dealer about the M, because they had indicated that the two cars would be about the same price - they weren't even close. For $32k, I'd have taken the M, but now that I've had 4 weeks in my car I'm glad they decided not to deal (I bet they wish they had - that M was on their lot for almost a month after I left, and it had been there a few weeks before)!
IMHO, the M would make a great performance vehicle for jsut about anyone who could tolerate the size. The point of the S isn't to suit everyone though, and that's why I like it. It seems more like a sports car custom built for the way I like to drive rather than simply being an all-around wunder-car...

As far as the heated seats are concerned, there were many things Honda probably could have supplied on the Stook. However, I believe they concentrated on the performance aspect of the car. It's simple, yet quite functional. Those things would have weighted it down while lightening ones wallet as much as the TT, Boxter, or M Roadster. Although, now that the M roadster has 315 hp, That would be nice laid out like a Stook and without all the electronic gizmos.

Upstate New York..... The name sounds so sweet and reminds me of many great memories I had with my little red Miata. Yes, that's where I was hooked on a roadster.
Too bad I cannot drive my stook there.
