My wife and I are looking at getting a sports car now that we live where it doesn't snow... These two are at the top of our list, I just wanted to get some of your input on what you see as pros and cons of each.

We'd most likely be looking for a used '04 S2000 (Silverstone with red/black). Is there a significant difference between the pre-04's and the 04/05's on the S2K?

We test drove a 350Z roadster last weekend... It was very sweet... It obviously has more HP, but I'm sure it's heavier and it will probably have a larger feel then the S2K. We're going to try to test drive a S2K soon.

How much more would you spend for a 350Z over a S2000? Either way, were going to try to find a good deal on something used with relatively low miles.

I think some one said the 350z looked like a frog taking a crap that stuck out in my mind when we were thinking about the 350z. We got the s2k over the 350z 6 weeks ago. Was a better deal all around.

As for how much more I would spend on a 350 over an S2000, I'd say about -2000 to -3000 (yes, negative)

I test drove a 350Z (not a roadster) before I test drove the S. The 350Z was nice and powerful, but it really didn't do it for me. The S felt much more like a sportscar to me.
You should really just drive both and decide which is the better fit for you. I am sure the people on a 350Z forum will give you much different advice than you will find here. Good luck in your search, and I hope to be reading your "My wife and I just bought an '04 S2K" thread very soon.

We took a short (I mean SHORT) test drive in a Z Roadster. It was practically out of gas, so we didn't get it up to speed on a highway.

It did feel nicely planted and the engine was very smooth at low speeds, which would make it a much nicer stop-and-go daily driver. It felt much heavier than the S.

Let us know what you think when you test drive the Honda. Try to get a used model so you can take it over 6000 rpm. That's where the fun lies.

I wouldn't spend more money for a 350Z roadster over an S2000. The Z roadster looks very strange. I can never grow to like it. I love the look of the coupe, though.

IMHO if your considering the Z.......then you should reconsider and go for the G35 Coupe which IMO is a much classier car.

If convertible is a MUST then the S is the real "looker".....

I agree that the Z roadster looks not so appealing.

While I don't "love" the look of the 350Z coupe, I think it has a nice side profile. The front end is ok and the rear is pretty much lacking. Chop off the roof and it destroys the lines of the best looking angle of the car IMO. The S is looks very nice from all angles especially with top down.The Z is more powerful and has much more low end torque, but it is also far heavier which basically makes it a wash at the top end. The better torque will definitely make it a better stop and go/stuck in heavy traffic driver though. As every body else says, drive them both and you will then know what you want to buy.

There was a recent thread on this. I can't find it, though, so I'll just sum up the general consensus.

As a sports car, the 350Z coupe vs. the S2000 is a hard choice. As a roadster, the S2000 is the clear choice. The S is much lighter, and it shows. The cockpit of the S looks better and "feels better" in the sense of it feels like you are putting the car on when you get in (like putting on a comfy pair of shoes). Visibility in the Z Roadster with the top up is poor, to say the least. Also, personally, I don't like the looks of the Z Roadster with the top up.

So, from the point of view that roadsters should feel like go carts and should be grin-inducingly fun, especially with the top down, I think the Z Roadster falls short.
