What an excellent review :

"The S2000 on the other hand is a car that was created for the single purpose of socially irresponsible driving, a dream car for the true enthusiast. After getting out of the S2000 every other car feels heavy, cumbersome, imprecise, untrustworthy and just plain less fun. It is the one car I desire for myself more than any other. "

Couldn't say it better myself !!

For me, there was no valid reason to seriously consider the TT. First of all, there is no Audi dealer any closer than Charleston - for some reason Audi dealerships are somewhat few and far between down here in the deep South. The only fair comparison is with the 225 hp quattro model, and there is close to $10K price difference, in favor of the S2000.
Well, let's be fair. The TT does offer substantially greater cargo carrying capacity. However, it does not handle nearly as well, and the styling nod definitely goes to the S2000. My wife did not like the TT's looks, and kept jokingly referring to it as the 'tittie.' That alone was sufficient reason not to buy it.
I suppose you will not really go wrong buying the TT, but this is an S2000 forum, and, I would like to think that because the S2000 is so endearing a piece of machinery, it is mostly as well an S2000 fan club. Include me as one of the fans.

The Audi TT, like the Beetle and Audi A3, is yet another variation on the Volkswagen Golf - they are all the same vehicle under the skin.

I think that says sufficient about the comparison. A tarted up shopping trolley vs. a purpose built open top sports car - the choice is yours.

After driving both it boils down to what your friend wants. The S2000 performace is unmatched and I happen to think it is a more attractive car (outside) Audi wins the interior styling but keep in mind that styling wasn't what Honda was after, it was about putting every control at the fingertips of the driver.

I own both. Just look which one is for sale in my signature....

Nuff said. The S2000 blows the TT away in terms of performance. But my TT will kick ass in the snow! Not many sport(y) cars can go year round....

If it will be his only car in a climate that has snow I would suggest the TT. If it is a second car or winter driving is not an issue go with the S2000!

This is a true story, I went to the Audi dealership to see if trading my S2000 in would be worth it(I live in Utah, a TT is more practical). When I asked the Audi salesman about it, he laughed, told me I was crazy, and sent me home. My sister was there, she can tell you that it's true. Go with the S2000!!!

The TT has its share of problems that include a serious electrical problem. If you follow mav's link you will see there is concern by the owners of TT. It was a couple of months ago when I saw one on fire along the highway near my house.

I do like Audies and have owned one, but I do not believe I would own a TT.

I own a TT and Im not going to tell you its the best car in the world and I am also not going to bash the S2000 because guess what guys????? Every car has its highs and every car has its lows, yes, even the S2000

The cars were built for two different reasons. The S2000 is very much at home on the Auto X course right out of the box and the TT is more of a grand tourer, it does everything well, but does not neccesarily master any of them. The TT provides comfort and ammenities where as the S2000 is bare bones. Both cars do exactly what they were designed to do. IMO the TT is a work of art that will draw twice as many comments and stares from passers by than the S2000 ever will. Im not saying that the S2000 does not get that, because I am sure it does, but to me the S2000 does not have enough distinguishing characteristics to make it stand out from the crowd(enthusiast crowds excluded).......

If you want to talk pure performance and nothing else which often times is a measure of a cars worth for whatever reason, sure, the S2000 gets the nod on that one, but with that logic should'nt all S2000 owners be waiting in line at the Lotus Importers to sign up for their new Elise's(this comment is based solely on performance of course, hold your reliability flames)???

Whatever you do, dont go off of one mans "bad" experience with his car. I and many others drive their cars like they stole them every day of the week, and so far after 1.5 years of ownership I have not had any problems.

Personally I think they are both great cars and if you want luxury, comfort, and style then go for the TT(it can always be made to perform as well and even a lot better than an S2000), but if you want all around performance straight out of the box then go with the S2000. Drive both and see what you like better, that is the only true way to know for sure..........
