S2000 Differences
hold the VSA button and voila, it goes away.
although its only 237 horses on paper, ap2v2 usually dynos 210whp. ap1s typically dyno ~200whp. so no, you dont notice the HP "loss."
before this becomes an ap1vsap2 thread, ap2s have an extra 50 lbs, effectively nearly halving that HP difference, so it comes down to the driver every time on which is faster on the street. that, and any of the basic mods (ie test pipe) close that "gap" too.
the real difference is the ap2 has 8k redline--not as raucous (pity IMO)--updated styling, and more torque at the bottom end. also, i like the carbon synchros, but i never owned an ap1 so it may not be that much different. effective gearing is slightly shorter on an ap2, but only slightly (4%?).
as for drifting, you cant drift the s2k anywhere near as easily as a number of other cars, such as the 350z or 240sx. i often hear you can buy a 240 and an s2k for the same money as buying an s2k and paying to properly set it up for drift. but if "drifting" is little more than a few ebrake turns and power oversteer, click off VSA and shred some tire; you can do that without much trouble.

yeah a buddy of mine told me I wouldn't be able to drift the 06 S2K due to VSA....that's why I was asking bout it..yeah that was my Tc I totaled I crashed it around 4 a.m when I was driving home from my girl friends house stupid rain....hmm maybe VSA is going to be my new best friend..but yeah I hated that Tc with a passion!!!...Every chick liked it...(hint)it was a chick car!!..so know wonder they would like it!!!!
...Yeah I would be hell of a lot more careful with a S2k I fell in love with it since my water polo team mate bought one thing rides so sweet!!...love the Vtec kick in...

Do not try to drift in an s2000 unless your in a HUGE empty parking lot where there is absolutely nothing you can crash into.
The s2000 handles HORRIBLY in the rain, you must be very careful as RWD + RAIN + CORNERS do not mix very well. Its very very easy to lose control in the rain, the vsa will help. The vsa is a really good thing to have. And again, please do not try to drift this car.
I know your not trying to be a jerk paul S I would diff get a 350z if I wanted to drift. but with the information gbmurderer has thankfully given me I won't even attempt to drift my soon to be S2k not that i'm even a amateur competitive drifter just like to do it every once in a while in a junkie car or in my friends 240sx note thankfully I suck at drifting so I won't even try it on the S2k. And thank you ace 123 for telling me how to turn off the VSA
...but with my luck I think I would have it on, unless it handicaps me in a one way. and a bit off topic but I glad I signed up for this board you all are very helpful and knowledgeable, and you guys didn't make me feel like such a noobie
...I hope to buy myself some membership as soon as I get an S2k that way I don't Jinx myself

RWD + rain + corners + stupid = bad
Drivetrain, water, or curving pavement don't wreck cars. Stupid wrecks cars.
