S2000: The End or a means to an end?
For me, it's important that a car not suck the bank account dry. This is mainly an emotional thing at age 56. Maybe I have this attitude because I had a BMW when I was 26 and really could not afford it as I was a grad student at the time.
There are ultimately better cars in some regards, I suppose, starting with the Boxter S. However, they cost so much more to buy and to maintain that I would not enjoy the marginal benefits they offer. Also, the status such cars exude is now a negative for me. I really enjoy a bargain, especially when it comes to a car.
For me, a married guy, the S offers me a chance to drive quickly (although not at the limit) without causing my wife to turn either pale white (with fear) or green (with car sickness). The handling of the car is just so great that she has complete confidence that we are always completely safe. (I have always found that the ultimate practical limit in driving a car is the comfort of my female passenger.)
I also know that the S is my chance finally to jump on the bandwagon of great cars. I passed up great opportunities over the years on a Lotus Elan, a 3.0 CSL BMW, a 356 Porsche SC, and a 289 Cobra.
This time, I have grabbed with both hands and won't ever let go.

Yes, that's a good way to put it. Exactly what I wanted. I did quite a bit of research on the competition before purchase and after 5 months of ownership I can safely say I couldn't have done better. I feel that for the money you would be hard pressed to find a better roadster. Honda truly had me in mind when they designed this car. I'm like a kid in a candy store every time I approach her.

You know how the saying goes " Young , Dumb, and full of C_M.
I'm guessing the elders have pushed the limits before and know the consequences better than the new kids .
