I agree with OP, people in Toronto here have some kind of respect for the S, until they find out it's just a HONDA

I do find people move for me though. At stop lights, they always always let me go first too.
people where i love in CO have muscle cars and they mess with imports like the s2k's here... i got cut off and snap over steer happened.. people say its my driving but others say its just tail happy so idk.

Make sense?
Driving in San Diego and Orange County for the last six years makes me miss the "normal" drivers in the Hampton Roads, VA area something terrible.
I never had anybody intentionally try to run me off the road or try to kill me out here in my Prelude- I mean, that one time the G-class driver swerved across 4 lanes of traffic on the 5 in Mission Viejo was way too busy eating chow mein with chopsticks to even realize I was there.
The lady in the Grand Waggonneer who tried to take me out a couple of months ago because I had the audacity to signal and get in her lane to avoid the car merging from the onramp, however, knew exactly what she was doing.
And at least on the places I go on a weekly basis, drivers seem to let me in much less frequently now- even with headlights burning, horn honking, and signals flashing. Then look all kinds of confused when I suddenly flash past them on the other side.

Really? I find drivers in the sticks in Texas to be far more courteous. No one ever pulls on to the shoulder to let you pass on single lane roads if you're anywhere near a city. Same sort of thing with mutli-lane roads in my experience. Once you're in a major city it's a free-for-all and there's no telling what nonsense you'll run into.
It seems other drivers are always trying to kill me. So I drive with a defensive mind.
When I fly up in the fast lane onto someone going the speed limit I flash them the lights. In the S, its 50/50, when I have the work truck it's 100% they move out of my way.

I find with the top up, people tends to tailgate me. With the top down they seems to do that less. Don't know why that is.
Maybe when the top is up, the car looks ugly with the worn plastic window and they think it's just another Miata.

I sincerely think they need to stop giving Driver's Licenses out to everyone who applies. Make it strict like in some parts of Europe, where people actually fret that they won't pass.
I think there should also be a graduated license based on your skill and car.
Supercars, left lane! Priuses, Camrys, Corollas, GTFO.
