S2000 getting "long in the tooth"
For those that said go forced induction..
I want to, and plan on supercharging my S2000 sometime in the future. But unlike all the aforementioned cars, S2000 owners have to go through the hassle of buying expensive mods (S/C =3K+) and tuning it to work with a car that wasn't designed for it from the factory.
Everyone in aforementioned cars still retain their warranty and have all around better performing cars by paying a nice little car note every month.
I love my Honda S2000. It looks fantastic, drives great, and seems to be reliable. Just give me 100 more horses, PLEASE.

Word.
"Twistys" are cool in the S.
But, on the drive to work, or to the grocery, to the movies, or to dinner (99% of my time in the S), rarely do I find myself on the "Dragon".
Mostly, I am going point to point, stop sign to stop light, with an Interstate hop thrown in here and there. It would be nice to have a car that gives control and mastery in those venues. Years ago, the S offered that more often than not against the general populace of human detritus.
Now...not so much. Now, it is more NOT than more often where the S reigns in everyday life. Now cars for less coin will give the S (and you as the driver) the schmuck slap in the 'real' world.
There will always be a faster car. But, the S has dropped significantly on the market scale. Well...not really that the S has dropped, it is just that the S has failed to keep up. More cars, lower dollars, will leave you hanging in the merge lane, at the stop light, and on the cruise.
Again, there will ALWAYS be a faster car, but I am talking about averages here. On average, the S is looking more like the 3rd string guy you put in play when there is a very specific condition on the field. Otherwise, he keeps the cooler full of ice and smiles alot.
I sometimes feel like that guy that you see driving a fast and pricey car putting along at Sammy Hagar's 55. You shake your head and wonder "why didn't that dude buy a $2500 '73 bug if he was content with getting blasted and shat upon everywhere he drives?".
Sadly, it is that the S just cannot keep up. You only look like more of an idiot when you try to keep up and get slammed.
My S is currently on the market for those reasons.

I guess I'm amazed to hear about so many complaints of the car's speed. Sure, she's not as fast (comparatively) as she once was, but with some minor work I find that I'm able to run with whatever pulls up next to me. And no, I don't have FI yet.
So far the only thing that has actually slaughtered me was a heavily built 350z: FI, exhaust, nitros (I think*), etc.
Then again, where I am, I rarely see another S. I live in corvette country and I think most of them are unsure of what my car is, and therefore don't run me. (Not that I would, as that would be an embarrassing show.)
I've had close calls, but the only loss was the built 350z.

The car is what it is, if you need faster, go get it and quit complaining about what this car is not. So what if Honda never upgraded it, they made a great car and didn't feel the need. The NSX was the same way, 14 years with very minor changes throughout the timeline, and still the best looking non-ferrari on the road.
Go get a new ugly ass corvette (C5s were nice looking, but the new one is UGLY!!!!!), and I'll laugh at you as I drive by while your car is on the tow hook. The new Zs are fugly, BMWs are not sports cars, they're sporty, but not sports cars. EVOs, STIs, they are 4 doors, you'll look real cool racing me whith your baby car seat in the back. New civics??? They could put a 700hp v10 in it and it would still be a civic. Go buy a new civic and tell some hot chick how you just bought a new civic, look at the expression on her face and LEARN.
My d!ck is just the right size and I've never wanted a bigger one! You're never going to be happy if you keep comparing. Enjoy the car because it's gorgeous and fun to drive. It is what it is!

seriously, you think girls that are so stuck up that they wouldn't date you if you had a civic would care if it was an S2000. No, if they were that stuck up you it wouldn't matter what Honda it was.
By the way, S2ki is happy that you are not dissappointed with your penis size.

the car was made for turning not for traffic light racing. if that's your priority the vette may be a good choice indeed.
It's a great handling car.
I am the only one to be satisfied with the power in the S2000?
I am the only one who gets pushed back in his seat right when the tach reads 9000RPM and I shift into 2nd gear and then mash the gas pedal?
Before trying to go faster in a straight line try using 70% of the S2000's capabilities in the corners. The car can carry A LOT of speed in corners and I NEVER get tired of it.
What I would like before adding HP is better steering feel and better brakes. Aside from those 2 problems the AP1 is a perfect sports car.

as someone stated above, something about the car makes it fun to drive. if not the power, what is it if you had to describe it? quick steering, road feel, reflexes, balance?
I understand that a lot of people are saying to just go FI, but once you do that, the car instantly starts having problems. A lot of FI guys talk about how this broke and that broke... yada yada.
Don't get me wrong... I love my S and it is by far the most fun car to drive and it still is pretty quick just with the bolt-ons I have, but having a little more power from the factory would be a God-Send for this car.
This car is great on the track compared to others on a SHORT track with hardly any straights. Put this car on a track with long straights and fairly average sized turns and it will get passed unless you're modded is some way, shape, or form.
And on the Auto-X... nothing and I mean nothing will come close to touching it without some mods... maybe only the Lotus'.
Just a little more UMPH please!!!!

The S is what it is, if you want something faster, get something faster. I like the power in the S, coming from a VTEC model del sol and a GSR previously its a nice power boost. The feel of driving the car is 100x better than those cars, I love it and don't need anymore power (for now at least).
