i was thinking couple of days ago, if my s2000 was going o hold its value like the rx-7 or the 300zx...did. considering it is not sold in very large numbers i see a good chance of something like that happening

Nope. It will drop in value every year... Unless it becomes a classic which is unlikely.
Dont buy it for an investment. Buy it to have a lot of fun with one of the best cars in it the $30,000 and under price range
The other cars decreased in value too then drifting became really popular and their values increased. It could happen but I wouldn't count on it.

It lost it's value once Honda started to produce them like regular Honda's. I used to think that the S2000 would become a classic when it first came out since it was rumored to only sell for a few years, but that all changed when the Ap2's kept on being produced.

The value of mine increases every year. Why? Because every year it becomes harder to find an exact replacement (unmodified red 02/03 with less than 50k miles). Therefore, mine's worth more and more to me. I don't care what the market value is, I'm not selling.
For everyone else, S2000s will someday be like the Triumph TR4; certainly not skyrocketing in value, but clean ones will be worth $10-15k in today's money. Just like the Miata, someone will always want a copy of this car and will spend time restoring and driving it.
See you guys at S2000 meets in 2035.
