My insurance is $1000 deductible so it won't cover the repaint ($430) anyway. It goes into the shop next Monday. Got the GTI back this morning and the hood looks great. Guess I need to make some room in my garage for both cars.

 

My S was keyed very much like yours. On the drivers side from before the door to the back bumper. Part of it was through to the metal.

I tried Aero Colours, a company that had a booth at Sac S2000 days.

Most of the scratch buffed out and the repair artist touched up a small area that had bare metal. I can see the difference in certain light, but it is barely noticable and won't rust now. He also gave me a card to a good paint shop which would repaint the side of the car for about $450.

Thanks Carnutmama. I just couldn't believe that it would be keyed in THAT neighborhood. Property taxes on most of those homes is about $2K a month.
