s2000 and heavy passenger
Long story short the weather in Chicago has been great this winter so a few of my friends decided to go for a cruise. I took my s2000 out from hibernation and my buddy hopped in with me. He is a bigger guy...i wanna say 250 plus lbs. Car was running great while cruising. when we got on the highway i got on it and i seriously thought the car had some problems. This thing was going nowhere and keep in mind im boosted at 461whp. I did another pull a little later to check my afr and boost. Everything checked out and it kinda ruined the drive as i was wondering what was wrong. In the back of my mind i did think it could be the weight but i had a hard time believing it was that much of a difference.
When i got to the garage and every one left i looked under the hood and everything was normal. So i went for a spin alone and i gotta say it felt like a train. Its a night and day difference. I was glad to know the car is just fine.lol.......anyone else have a similar experience or notice a difference with a heavy passenger? I guess thats one downside of having no torque.

Weight affects all cars to a certain degree. It even affects heavy cars with tons of HP and torque, but you can't feel it as much. One, the car is heavier to begin with so the percentage of change isn't as great and two, the torque really helps push the extra weight. But the S2000 is a car that relies on light weight for quickness so any additional weight is very noticeable. To take it to the extreme, imagine taking your GF on a bike. Even if she only weighs 120 lbs, that would be a huge percentage increase in total weight and your HP-to-weight ratio will suffer greatly.
It's a shame because the S2000 is best enjoyed with your GF on a warm summer day. With the extra weight and a healthy dose of heat soak, the S2000 feels very sluggish. The car really shines on a cool autumn night, by yourself, with a quarter-tank of gas.

That is with the OEM exhaust and a full tank
Wheels/tires 9lbs
Test pipe 7lbs
Spare tire/tools removed 5 lbs (add weight for oem front lip, Oem Ap2 rear wing, side strakes)
Aem v2 intake 4 lbs
Empty windshield reservoir 4 lbs
PC680 battery 11 lbs
Windshield wipers 2 lbs
PLM header 10 lbs (future mod)
Ap1 air pump delete 7 lbs (future mod)
Thinking of going with a light single exhaust and no soft top, bring it into the 2680ish range with hardtop off..

I can fairly easily tell between having a full tank of gas and 1/4 tank. I can absolutely tell a difference when my wife is riding with me, and she's around 120 lb. She seems like a heiffer when she's riding with me lol.
You'll notice it a lot less with v6/v8's (or v10, v12... of course
)
But yea, even at 460 whp i'm sure i could see a difference
