Depending on how young a guy is, a lot of us think it's "daddy's car". If it's a young woman, a lot of us think "who's her Sugar Daddy".

I often attempt to but should probably give up on trying to educate the non-automotive-knowledgeable.

Just remind yourself that "you rock!"... and if they have to ask, then they can't afford it, and surely want it. Just nod politely and ignore them, get into VTECH and smile. Remind yourself how lucky you are not to be in their situation. Pleasant thoughts...

Usually I don't mind because I love talking about the car, especially to car people. However, I can be very sarcastic at times. To the How can you afford it question my answers are usually (good mood or friend) My kids are grown. (bad mood or a**hole) I don't have a mistress like you do.
Before the S I had an Eagle Talon that was well modded and my wife had a sign made for the back window that said "MID LIFE CRISIS"

I have all those comments and more.
When people say things to me like 'you must be loaded', I say 'yes thanks I've got sh*t loads of money', then smile profusely.
I never get the same comment twice

There is an old saying that I will paraphrase as, "Never attribute to meanness that which can be explained as stupidity." I guess that you can count "insensitivity" in there along with "stupidity". Anyhow, I think that it is often thoughtlessness rather than jealousy. But if you didn't expect that you might get a few snide remarks (over and above the dumb ones and the real complements) when you got this car, then you need to pay closer attention to the world. In any event, why not just focus on what a lucky sob you are to have the car and be happy about it. Works for me.

Don't let it get to you. . .lots of folks running around out there are jerks!

I especially hate. . ."do you mind me asking, how much does it run for?" Ohhhhhhhhhhh, how I hate that! What is wrong with people!

It's just society today. . .people have to have a price tag to appreciate anything! I wish we could go back to the way things used to be. . .

I quote this from an Acura NSX commercial. . .

"In today's world, it is difficult to find things that are still made by hand. . .it is not, however, difficult to recognize them."

Man, how I like that! Of course our beloved S2000's are not made by hand but I am sure you catch what I am trying to say. . .right!
