Maybe some of the interior improvements includea VGS type steering wheel that makes ingress and egress easier.

Other than that, any ideas as to these interior improvements and the new 17" wheels for the car?

OMG! Lost it's Soul? That's like saying the Austin Healey 3000 or the XKE has lost it's soul. Classics in their own right as is the S 2000.

My '03 has a glass rear window.

The new things the '04 is definitely getting are another upgraded speaker system, a 2.2L engine and 17in rims.

Personally, I would love to see a SMG. I don't really see how people can think that a SMG is not for sports cars. It is the way they do trannys for racing, why not sports cars. Also, I don't have a problem with the shifter for the SMG being in the cosole as it is currently. It would seem to be something that is required for most people. You need to be able to get into reverse and park of some kind. In the ferrari there is a button on the steering wheel for reverse - something that i don't think people would really like much.

Personally, I would like to see the SMG have paddle shifters behind the wheel, as well as the gear shift. Either way is a great way to shift a car. The paddles would need to be set up correctly though. None of these buttons on the front and back of the steering wheel. Right hand upshifts, left hand down shifts. Also, the gear shift in the console needs to be pull for up, push for down. It would be great to be able to put the SMG is the past cars, but i have a feeling that it would take a lot of work.

New Rx-8 will hold the record for most horse power per liter. I believe its going to be a 280 horsepower Naturally aspirated 1.3 liter. Not sure if its 280 or 250...Either way it wins. But I dont think they count rotary on that because its some shit about being unfair or somthing.

I think the RX8 is 250 HP.

Comparisons between rotary and piston engines based purely upon equal displacement aren't exactly unfair. They just don't mean a whole lot because of the differences in how they work.

Yep, I couldn't agree more. It's going to be one of those cars that people remember. I can here it now...

"Boy, that S2000 is a nice car."

"Yeah, but the new ones aren't like the old ones. Remember the first generation of those things? One of the best cars ever in my opinion..."

"Yeah, I do remember them..."

I agree that SMG would be a nice option. Option being the operative word here. It's not a bad thing, but I'll always want some gears to play with. Even if SMG made me faster around a race track, I would still want a clutch pedal under my left foot. Nothing beats the satisfaction of a perfectly executed downshift.

Only time will tell how the new S2000 pans out. I hope they keep the driving experience raw, and the car minimalist in design....

yeah i've noticed that too. one would expect to see more loss through an automatic if measuring at the wheels, but since the 290 hp and 252 hp figures are rated at the flywheel...i guess honda detuned the nsx with auto trannies to make people buy the 6-spd. its like their way of showing that the 6-spd is better, i dunno just a thought.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am a true fan of the current s2000. I currently own a white tan 2003 s2000. I love my car, because it speaks out who I am. Just because there is a newer model, or a biger engine doesn't mean that we lost our soul to our car. Every day I look at my car before I go to work to give me motivation to work. When I drive that car down the road top down looking at the moon and the stars, it puts me the most peace state of mine. I can careless of a new s2200, true it would be interesting to look at, I view it as a new family member entering into the house. "Some people wait a life time for a moment like this." I have the ride I wanted, now it is time to move on, with my life. Maybe a wife or a house.....
