In order to really chart the ricer ratio trends, we need to agree on a common nomenclature, classification system and taxonomy.

My favorite thing about the Honda S2000 from a perception standpoint is regardless of the enviroment, it fits in: The classiest restaraunt, local nightclub, cruise nights, the race track - its accepted and enjoyed by most everywhere.

And there's nothing ricey about clear markers, as long as there not combined with a giant club racer wing.
Many times I think all the term "rice" really means is that the person using the term doesn't like something someone else has done, and lacks the vocabulary to express his dislike any other way.
People use to call my bikes "rice rockets," and now some call me "the worlds oldest ricer." What that means to me is that I'm not like them, and to me, that's a good thing.

hey everyone, sorry iam a younger person (20) and the S is my second car and i've worked very hard (2 sometimes 3 jobs during the summers)to purchase it. my S is in my name with my insurance..its my baby and i really do baby her(for the most part
) and while i agree with you that you dont want to see the car be 'riced out' by younger kids..just please dont discriminant against all youngsters. i love my car and want to keep it classy. and as far as the solution to the s2k ricers..we could just fight but other than that just roll your eyes and drive on. to each his own.

... and that's the thing. i can't blame the lack of intelligence on age, because many of the new members in our community are young, smart and truly great automobile enthusiasts. As a matter of fact, I would say in recent years our local community has grown and attracted better and more qualified members. It's only when I venture into S2000 talk that I read the garbage that so many complain about.
But I think it's due to raw math. Let me explain: I would say there has always been at least 5% idiot to enthusiast ratio on the site. To keep this simple, I will use simple numbers. Let's say that 7 years ago we had a membership base of 200, so we had roughly 10 idiots. Let's say everyone had a 2ppd. That's 20 moronic posts per day. Today we have 2,000 active members. So given the same idiot ratio, we have 200 moronic posts per day. The raw numbers have grown, but has the percentage? I think it's fair to say that's at the very least debatable. As the numbers grow so does the outrageousness of the posts. The idiot factor continues to move to new benchmarks.
Therefore, it may be a problem of shear size and not the fact that the car is cheaper that is causing the perceived degradation of the quality of this site. I still believe that there are great resources here, and at least on a local level a superb group of quality folks with a shared interest.

747 wings? - OK, EVo and STi are ricers out the box. Factory rice. FD2 Civic TR too!
It is really amazing Honda owners looking down on other Honda owners. Get real guys, everyone hates Honda owners - we are all in the same boat to the outside world.
